WHAT IS NANOTECHNOLOGY?
Nanotechnology is defined as the control and understanding of matter at dimensions of roughly 1 to 100 nanometers (nm), where the chemical, biological, and physical properties of material differ from the properties of individual atoms and molecules. This in turn, creates a unique phenomena in which applications at the nano level function differently than they would at other levels.
Nanotechnology can also be understood as a term that refers to any products and materials that function at a nano level. These materials and devices are measured in nanometers, where 1 million nanometers equals 1 millimeter. To get an understanding of the size of these nano particles, picture that a single strand of human hair can fit 100,000 to 200,000 nano particles.
